Don’t Throw Away Your Pearls!
March 28th, 2008 |
Maybe some of you in the recent past have been seeing vlogs that talk about some people in the Bible and their lifestyle. I’ve seen some of them, not all but enough to know that the information isn’t correct. I’ve also seen other people respond in correction.
Jesus warrned us that there will be people who wear sheep suits but really are mean wolves. Matthew chapter 7 is a very strong chapter. “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. -Matthew 7:15
Jesus warns us to not buy things hook, line, and sinker. Fish gulliable eat. It is very important to go back to the Bible and divide it properly. Many people do pick one verse and try to twist it to justify their lifestyle. They have the wrong motive, wrong heart, and wrong intentions. The motive is selfish– just to justify THEIR actions.
How can we tell the difference between good christians and people who wear a sheep suit? Jesus explains in the same chapter. “By their fruit you will recognize them.” -Matthew 7: 16 Jesus explains more in that same chapter about fruits. It’s how the person acts and says. “Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.” –Matthew 7:16-18.
Let me elaborate a bit more on the fruit part. When we accept Christ as our savior, we have the fruits of the Spirit which is shared in Galatians. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. “ Galatians 5:22-26.
These fruits influences everything we do, the way we say, and the way we rationalize things. If we have a relationship with God, our fruits will grow. God is a good Spirit, and Him in me helps me produce good fruits. If I am a person that has God’s spirit living in me, I will naturally flow and show good fruits with good intentions and motives. I will want to be a servant to you rather than being arrogant and expect to be served at. Really, watch how people act, what they say, and how they rationalize things. The Holy spirit has given us a gift- discerning of the Spirit- I can tell which one is a wolf in a sheep suit and there are times when I’m not sure and I will go ahead and get to know the person some more. There are a lot of “wolves” out there. It is our responsibility to be on the watch-out.
Does this mean that you’re better off not having anything to do with Bible? No. There’s truth and freedom with God. The Truth is what we need to hold onto. You are responsible in what you see and take. Like Jesus said, watch their fruits. We have a responsibility. We can’t just sit down and buy things that people tell us. Christians with the fruit of the Spirit will want to serve God 100%. Their desire is to glorify God and they want to help others. That’s another thing we can look into a person. Are they able to Walk the walk like Jesus did?
Now, I will talk about how we ought to respond to those kind of people, “wolves in a sheep suit”. Jesus says this, “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” -Matthew 7:6.
Wisdom, Words of advices, Thoughtfulnesses, Words of Encouraging, Truth, and whatever is good and holy are considered valuable. When someone shares with me words of Wisdom, I am always grateful that they helped me understand more. My eyes and my mind is enlightened. It’s of great value. When someone shares with me thoughtful and encouraging words, it makes me feel inspired. Pearls are of great value and Jesus knows that all things that are good are with value. People in a sheep suit will not regard Scriptures and Wisdom as great value. They will take what you shared, trample on it and when it’s done and they will turn around and chew you out. It’s like walking into a pack of wolves.
Does this mean at all times we should not answer those people? No. Let’s see what Proverbs says (one of my husband’s favorite verses.) I have two here and read both. “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. -Proverbs 26:4
and another one just right after this verse: Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.” –Proverbs 26:5
Huh!? You’re in a no win situation here. Don’t answer a fool or you’ll be like him. Answer a fool lest he think he’s wise in his own eyes. Dododo??? Ah, Thank God for the Bible. It is filled with understanding.
Jesus tells us, “For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.” –Luke 12:12. I don’t treat everyone the same. Sometimes I meet a person and I notice that the person isn’t saying the right thing, I approach to help them gain wisdom. People can realize and say, “Oh, wow, thank you.” and change fast. Some will, some won’t. Sometimes I meet people and they talk talk talk and I say nothing. Sometimes I will go as far as I can– give it my all. Depending on the person and what the Holy Spirit tells me.
I commend those who were brave to stand up and speak the Truth against follies and I encourage those who created vlogs sharing information that isn’t true to re-examine what you said….with integrity.
Have a great day!
